Heat and Dental 3D Printing: How Warm Resin Changes Strength and Shape

Ever wondered how heat affects the strength and shape of dental 3D printing resins? Scientists decided to find out by heating resins to different temperatures during the 3D printing process. They used a special tank to keep the resin warm at 30, 40, and 50 degrees Celsius. They tested how well the resin flowed, how fast it hardened, how tough the surface was, how flexible and strong it was, and how accurate the 3D-printed crowns were.
They found that warmer resin flowed better but hardened a bit slower. The surface got tougher, but not as much at 50 degrees Celsius as at 30 and 40 degrees. The strength, flexibility, and ability to bounce back improved a lot with higher temperatures, with 50 degrees Celsius making the resin the strongest. However, the shapes weren't as accurate at higher temperatures.
So, warming the resin makes dental prostheses stronger and longer-lasting, but the temperature needs to be just right to keep the shapes accurate.
