Heat Wave Hits Michigan: Get Ready for Hot, Humid Days

Michigan, USAThu Jun 25 2026
The National Weather Service has warned that Michigan will experience a heat dome next week, pushing temperatures into the 90s and making the air feel even hotter. The forecast shows that the southern part of the Lower Peninsula will see especially high temperatures, while much of the Upper Peninsula is expected to hit the 80s and some areas in the west and south could reach 90. Thunderstorms are also on the radar, so hot weather will come with occasional rain. The combination of heat and humidity means that the “feels‑like” temperature could climb into the 100s, increasing the risk of heat stroke and other health problems.
AccuWeather predicts that the main part of the heat dome will sit over the Ohio Valley, middle Mississippi Valley and Tennessee Valley for much of the week. The heat could spread outwards to reach parts of the Plains, Great Lakes region, East Coast and Gulf Coast. Even though forecasts will sharpen as July 4th approaches, the heat may linger through the holiday weekend. Michigan residents should stay updated on daily highs and take precautions to avoid overheating, especially if they are outdoors or engaging in strenuous activity.
