Heatwave Looms Over Denver This Week

Denver, Colorado, USAMon Jun 08 2026
Denver is bracing for a string of scorching days, with temperatures expected to hit the 90‑degree range across low elevations. The National Weather Service warned residents to drink plenty of water and avoid heavy outdoor work while the heat stays high from Sunday through Wednesday. Sunday’s forecast calls for a peak of 93°F, just shy of the city’s June record of 98°F. Monday will cool a touch to 88°F, still about ten degrees below the same record. Tuesday’s temperature could reach 95°F, matching Denver’s June 9 high. Wednesday may see 92°F, a week away from the July record of 99°F.
Storms are also on the horizon. Between 2 p. m. and 5 p. m. Monday, a chance of thunderstorms exists over the city. While Denver itself is not in the severe thunderstorm risk zone, nearby areas such as Fort Collins along Interstate 25 could experience hail larger than a golf ball and damaging winds. The greatest danger is expected over the northeastern plains, where severe storms are most likely. Residents should prepare for a hot week and potential storm activity by staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor tasks, and keeping an eye on local weather updates.
