Heavy Fog Expected Across Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota Tonight

A dense fog warning has been issued for parts of northern Wisconsin and southern Minnesota, affecting several counties around the Lake Superior area. The advisory covers Carlton, South St. Louis, Southern Cook and Southern Lake Counties in Minnesota, as well as Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas and Iron Counties in Wisconsin. Tribal lands such as the Fond du Lac Band, Lac du Flambeau Band, Grand Portage Reservation, Bad River Reservation and Red Cliff Band are also included.Visibility during the peak of the fog will drop to a quarter mile or less, making it difficult to see beyond a short distance. The warning starts at 10 p. m. local time tonight and lifts by 10 a. m. the following morning as conditions clear up. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, use low‑beam headlights and fog lights, and keep a larger following distance to stay safe while the mist rolls in.
