Crime is a harsh reality in the U. S. , leaving many people with lasting mental health issues. Those from low-income communities and people of color often face the brunt of it. Trauma Recovery Centers (TRCs) offer a helping hand by providing mental health care and support services to these underserved victims. A recent look at 12 studies, following the PRISMA-ScR rules, gives us a better picture of how well TRCs are doing. These centers are set up in three different locations. Around half to three-quarters of people had access to treatment, and about 40-43% finished their care. Those who did complete the services saw improvements in symptoms like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. What's more, they had fewer repeat injuries. Several studies also showed that TRCs made a real difference for people from underserved communities, helping with both health and social needs. The next step? Researchers should explore how TRCs can do even better.
