Hiscox Manager Accused of False Testimony in Greek Court
Athens, GreeceFri Mar 20 2026
A former Hiscox employee is now the focus of a Greek court case.
The judge says he may have lied while helping Greece try to send a former colleague back to Bermuda.
The case involves Yuval Abraham, who used to run the company’s finance in Bermuda.
He is said to have taken about $1. 8 million and bought fancy Swiss watches.
In 2019 and 2020, a Hiscox manager sent documents to Greek authorities that the court thinks were not true.
The documents were part of a request from Bermuda to bring Abraham back for trial.
Abraham says he was framed after he stopped approving shady accounts that let the company avoid taxes.
He claims he only discovered fraud in 2017 and refused to sign off on the books.
A lawyer for the manager told a Greek court that his client did not lie and that the case should be dismissed.
The lawyer also pointed out that the summons was in Greek, not English.
If found guilty, the manager could face a fine or up to three years in jail for giving false testimony.
Hiscox, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, did not comment on the story.
The company has had other legal battles with Abraham in Bermuda, Britain, the US, South Africa and Greece.
Abraham was arrested at Athens airport after an Interpol notice.
He spent almost a year in a high‑security jail before seeking asylum in Greece.
In 2021, the Greek ministry said Bermuda could not request his extradition.
