Up in the heart of Minnesota, where the ice rinks replace the beaches and the best sport to be playing is hockey, there was a very busy night last Friday The day brought a ton of hockey action, and the results were as unpredictable as the weather. Right off the bat, we have to talk about the massive showdown between the University of North Dakota and the St. Cloud State University. It was a nail-biter from start to finish. The final score was 3-3, with both teams scoring goals into overtime. Ethan AuCoin, who had 2 goals for Husky's, really stood out for play. But it was Barrett Hall who had the very last goal in the game. It's not good for his team to tie but it is still a great moment. Meanwhile, on another rink, St. Benedict and Hamline University went head-to-head in a Women's game. It was a bitter night for the Bennies. St. Benedict, 3, Hamline, 7, kind of tells you that it wasn't a good night. Ava Stinnett, Auroa Opsahl, and Shae Stinnett scored goals for the Bennies. But they didn't score enough. Maybe someone should tell them that you need at least 8 goals to get a "W".
If you thought those games were intense, wait until you see how St. Cloud State University, 2, University of St. Thomas, 5unfolded. Sofianna Sundelin, drove the bus for the Huskies, by scoring 2 goals. It was a good game for the visitors. They surely got some special treatment from the refs. But, hey, we don't expect anything less from a team with the record they have. The St. Cloud Norsemen, who swept in like a storm, dominated the Minnesota Wilderness, with goals by Andrew Cumming, Kyle Miller, Wyatt Farrell, Same Crane, and Martins Klaucans. Having to play more than 2 teams in a season! So, if you're a fan of sports, excitement and just about anything that keeps you on the edge of your seat, the Minnesotan winter is your thing. And if you missed any of these games, well, you missed out on some really exciting hockey. But it wasn't all good news for the Granite City Lumberjacks, They faced the Mason City Toros, who seemed to have it all planned out. T. J. had a hat-trick, but it wasn't enough. Five times in over-time! Come on! And that's the thrill of live sports for you, folks! The unmatched excitement and suspense.
