IGGYMOB Picks Up Gungrave IP to Revive a Classic Action Series
Seoul, South KoreaMon Apr 27 2026
IGGYMOB has secured the worldwide rights to the action‑heavy title Gungrave from Japan’s RED Entertainment. The move gives the studio control over all game titles, characters and the story world, allowing it to push the brand into new platforms and media. Gungrave first appeared on PlayStation 2 in 2002, quickly earning a reputation for its stylish gunplay and gritty noir storytelling. The main character, Grave, is remembered for his double‑pistol combat and a coffin‑shaped weapon that made him iconic among fans.
The franchise has grown beyond games, producing animations, figurines and other merchandise that have kept its fanbase active for over two decades. Its strong narrative foundation and visual style make it a good fit for expansion into comics, movies or other digital content. IGGYMOB plans to bring fresh life to the series by hiring manga artist Yasuhiro Naito as a director. The company aims to honor Gungrave’s original identity while updating it for modern audiences and current market trends. A brand‑rebuilding strategy will target worldwide viewers, hoping to bring the series back into mainstream attention.
The studio is already working on a new title, “GUNGRAVE G. O. R. E BLOOD HEAT, ” which promises to reinterpret the classic characters and themes for today’s gamers. The acquisition marks a new chapter in Gungrave’s long‑standing legacy and could set the stage for broader media opportunities.
