India and the EU have just finished talking about a huge trade deal. This deal is a big step for both sides. It will make it easier to buy and sell things between India and the EU. Together, they make up a big part of the world's economy. This deal is expected to boost trade and investment.
The deal is not ready to sign yet. It needs to go through some legal checks. This process might take about five to six months. After that, it could take another year to start working. This is a long time, but both sides seem excited.
Recently, the EU made other big trade deals. They signed agreements with South America, Indonesia, Mexico, and Switzerland. India also made deals with Britain, New Zealand, and Oman. These deals show that countries are looking for new trade partners. This is partly because of tensions with the United States.
The talks between India and the EU started again in 2022. They had stopped for nine years. The talks got serious after the U. S. put tariffs on many countries, including India. The U. S. and India could not agree on a trade deal last year.
There were some tough talks about cars and steel. The EU wanted India to lower taxes on cars. India wanted the EU to make it easier to sell steel. In the end, India might lower car taxes from 110% to 40%. But some farm products are not included in the deal. India wants to protect its farmers.
