Indiana's Basketball Blues: What's Going Wrong?

Indiana University's basketball team is in a slump. They've lost three games in a row, including a recent 74-57 defeat against Iowa at home. This isn't just about one bad game; it's a pattern. The team's second-half performance has been particularly concerning. For three straight games, they've scored fewer points in the second half than in the first. Coach Darian DeVries thinks fatigue might be a factor. With only eight players getting significant playing time, it's no surprise that the team looks tired towards the end of games. Defense has also been a problem. Early in the season, Indiana's defense was ranked among the top 20 nationally. But lately, they've been struggling. In their last five conference games, they've allowed opponents to score more than 1. 24 points per possession four times.One player who's been struggling is Tucker DeVries. He was expected to be one of the top forwards in the Big Ten, but he's been in a shooting slump. In the last five games, he's only scored in double figures once. His three-point shooting percentage in conference games is just 25. 5%. Fouling has also been an issue. In five of their six losses this season, Indiana has allowed opponents to shoot more than 45 free throws. Against Iowa, they gave away 23 free throws, and the Hawkeyes made 21 of them. On the other hand, Iowa's Bennett Stirtz had a great game. He scored 27 points and dished out five assists. He's been impressive all season and is now considered a potential NBA draft pick.
