In a surprising turn of events, Intel's latest chips have outperformed Apple's M5 chip in some tests. But, this victory might not last long. Two laptops, the MSI Prestige 14 Flip and the Lenovo IdeaPad, were tested with Intel's new Core Ultra Series 3 chips. The Intel Core Ultra X7 358H and the Core Ultra X9 388H were put to the test. The results showed that Intel's chips scored higher in two out of three benchmarks. The Intel Core Ultra X9 388H achieved a score of 1285 in the Cinebench 24 multi-core benchmark, beating the M5's 922. In the 3DMark Steel Nomad Light test, the same Intel chip scored 5883, compared to the M5's 5077.
However, this isn't a reason for Intel to celebrate just yet. The Apple M4 Pro has already outperformed these Intel chips. Moreover, the upcoming M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected to leave Intel's latest offerings in the dust. The improvements seen between the M4 and its more powerful counterparts suggest that the M5 Max MacBook Pro will deliver impressive Geekbench scores. This means that Intel's current lead is likely to be short-lived.
