The additional cash will help bolster the agency's security measures. Other provisions include aid for the presidential transition process and some other miscellaneous items.The journey to this point was not without its challenges. House Speaker Mike Johnson had initially linked the spending bill to a mandate that would have required states to verify the citizenship of voter registration applicants. However, he eventually dropped this demand, and lawmakers were able to reach a compromise. The deal also includes a provision that requires the Department of Homeland Security to provide information to a House task force and Senate committee investigating the assassination attempts made against Trump.
