Learn Sign Language in Three Weeks – Free Course for All

A new free three‑week class is starting soon, letting anyone—from families to beginners and people who are deaf or hard of hearing—learn American Sign Language (ASL) and baby sign. The course is hosted by OSF HealthCare together with the Illinois Valley Community College Continuing Education Center at the OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru. Sessions run from 6:00 to 7:00 p. m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning May 12 and ending May 28. No previous experience is required; the program is designed for newcomers.Students will pick up everyday signs that are useful at home and in health‑care settings, plus basic vocabulary about feelings and medical terms. The goal is to help people communicate better, create stronger bonds, and make information more accessible for everyone. Participants can request accommodations such as ASL interpreters if needed.
