LG has introduced a new TV that competes with Samsung's The Frame series. This TV is part of LG's Gallery lineup, not to be mistaken with their G-series OLEDs. It was announced shortly after the release of LG's MRGB95 range, which features new Micro RGB Evo panel technology. The Gallery TV will be available in 55- and 65-inch sizes. It has a white frame or an optional lightwood cover. LG is targeting lifestyle consumers who want a TV that looks like art when turned off. However, this TV uses LCD with Mini LED backlight, not the advanced Micro RGB or OLED technology. The TV is powered by LG's Alpha 7 AI processor, which is usually found in entry-level and mid-range sets. This suggests that the Gallery TV is not meant to be a high-performance device. LG is promoting its Gallery+ feature as a key selling point. This service offers free access to 100 pieces of artwork per month or a paid tier with over 4500 pieces. It also includes an AI service that lets users create their own artwork using Google's Gemini platform.
Despite being marketed for the Gallery TV, the Gallery+ app is available on all recent LG sets. No details about the price, release date, or ports have been revealed yet. LG is not the only company entering the lifestyle TV market. Hisense and TCL have also launched their own lifestyle-focused TVs. Lifestyle TVs have been controversial among movie enthusiasts. These TVs prioritize looks over picture quality and specifications. The Hisense Canvas TV, for example, received a low rating due to its poor picture quality despite its stylish design. It remains to be seen if the LG Gallery TV will face similar issues. With its conservative specs, there are concerns about its performance.
