Local High School Athletes Shine in Recent Games

High school athletes from the Cincinnati area had a strong showing in recent games. Lebanon's boys basketball team won back-to-back games. Deer Park also had a big win, beating Finneytown by 13 points. Bellevue's team had a successful week, winning two away games. The girls basketball teams also did well. Mount Notre Dame remained undefeated with wins over St. Ursula and Mercy McAuley. Clermont Northeastern extended their winning streak to four games. Notre Dame had a close win against Holy Cross, with a final score of 43-41. In other sports, Lebanon's bowling team had a great week, beating Turpin, Hamilton, and Winton Woods. Seton's swimming team won the Best of the West meet, scoring 428 points. Individual athletes also stood out. Carson Duke from West Clermont scored 40 points in a game, even though his team lost. Tyler Owens from Goshen had an impressive game with 35 points and nine rebounds. Khalia Thompson, a freshman from Lebanon, had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
In swimming, Matthew Schomaker from Roger Bacon won two events against Fenwick and Purcell Marian. Camille Smitherman from Seton won two individual events and was part of two winning relay teams. Wrestling also saw standout performances. Leo Beard from Wyoming won his bracket at the Everette Howard Memorial. Luke Cornwell from Ryle won his weight class at the Raider Rumble. Liberty Johnson from Clermont Northeastern placed fourth in her weight class at the Women of Ironman. Winning athletes can now download their certificates online.
