Local High School Stars Shine Bright in January Sports

In the world of high school sports, January was a month to remember. Athletes from various schools across Ohio and Northern Kentucky showcased their skills, leaving a mark in basketball, bowling, archery, wrestling, and swimming. The public had their say, voting for the top performers in different categories. Winners received digital certificates, a shift from the traditional mailed ones, to ensure families could easily access and print them. Basketball teams dominated the scene, with several schools on impressive winning streaks. Walnut Hills' boys' team edged out close games, while Wyoming's undefeated season continued with three more victories. Covington Catholic's boys' team extended their win streak to ten games. On the girls' side, Milford's team rode an 11-game winning streak, and Clark Montessori's team remained undefeated in conference games. Lloyd Memorial's girls' team also showed dominance with significant wins.Individual athletes also made their mark. Knox Mills from Hamilton scored 17 points in a crucial game, while Jonah Phillips from Bethel-Tate had a standout performance with 20 points and nine rebounds. Anthony Coppola from Ryle set a new program record for assists. In girls' basketball, Lauren Bain from Seton and Stacia Simmons from Clark Montessori had impressive performances. Other sports saw notable achievements as well. St. Xavier's bowling team clinched the Cardinal Classic, and Oak Hills' wrestling team took first place in a tournament. In swimming, Chase Grisi from St. Xavier set new personal bests in multiple events.
