This winter, three nearby school districts are joining forces to keep students safe during bad weather. The districts, St. Cloud Area Schools, Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools, and Sartell-St. Stephen Public Schools, will work together to decide if schools should close due to snow, ice, or other weather issues. They'll check national weather forecasts and talk to local officials to make their decisions. The main goal is to keep kids safe and informed.
Usually, they'll announce closings or late starts by 9 p. m. the night before. If a decision needs to be made in the morning, they'll aim to do so by 5:15 a. m. If schools close early, most activities and classes will also be canceled. Parents should be ready for changes in the school schedule. After all, Minnesota weather can be unpredictable!
These districts know that winter can be tough, so they're planning ahead to keep kids safe and learning.
