London sees more arrests in ambulance arson case tied to antisemitic motives
Golders Green, London, UKThu Apr 02 2026
Police in London have taken three more people into custody over a fire that damaged four ambulances owned by a Jewish volunteer group. The incident happened in Golders Green, an area with a big Jewish community. Two of the suspects are 20 and 19 years old, while the third is just 17 and holds both British and Pakistani citizenship. They face charges related to plotting arson with the aim of putting lives at risk.
Investigators believe the fire was motivated by hatred toward Jewish people. Counterterrorism officers are handling the case as a potential antisemitic hate crime. Earlier, a group claiming ties to Iran took responsibility, but officials haven’t labeled the attack as terrorism yet. Two other men, aged 45 and 47, were previously arrested and later released on bail after the same incident.
The fire broke out on March 23, causing oxygen tanks in the ambulances to explode. The blast shattered windows in nearby apartments. The volunteer organization Hatzola Northwest, which provides emergency services in the area, lost four of its vehicles in the blaze.
Authorities say they’re working hard to find everyone involved. A senior officer mentioned that the Jewish community is understandably worried, but arrests show progress in solving the case. The investigation is still ongoing to determine if others played a role.
