The 2025 South Carolina School Report Cards are out, and the results are a mixed bag for the Lowcountry area. The report, which looks at things like test scores, graduation rates, and how ready students are for college or careers, shows that some districts are doing better than others. Charleston County School District is making progress, especially at the elementary level. Sanders-Clyde Elementary School even earned a “Good” rating for the first time. Over 60% of the district's schools got “Good” or “Excellent” ratings, which is better than the state average of 49%. However, the district is still behind in preparing students for college or careers, with only 58. 4% of students meeting that mark. Dorchester School District Two is leading the way in the Lowcountry, with eight schools earning an “Excellent” rating. The district's graduation rate is also up, hitting 91. 4%, which is higher than the state average of 86. 7%. No schools in this district were rated as below average or unsatisfactory. Berkeley County School District has a graduation rate similar to the state average, at 86. 2%. The dropout rate has also decreased from last year. However, the district is struggling when it comes to preparing students for college or careers, with about 10% fewer students meeting that standard compared to the state. To see how your child's school did, you can check out the South Carolina School Report Cards website. It's a good way to get a closer look at the data and see where improvements can be made.
