Massachusetts Weather: Rain and Wind on the Way

Massachusetts is in for a mix of weather this week. Rain is expected to start Monday afternoon and last through the night. The day will begin dry, but clouds will roll in as moisture builds up. Temperatures will hover in the mid to high 50s. By 2 p. m. Monday, the chances of rain go up. However, widespread showers are not expected until evening. Most rain will be light, but there could be brief, heavier downpours. A cold front will push through overnight Tuesday, clearing out the rain and clouds by morning. The state is expected to see less than an inch of rain, with some areas getting up to half an inch.Tuesday will bring drier air and strong winds. Gusts of 25 to 35 mph are likely in the afternoon, with higher elevations possibly seeing gusts up to 40 mph. Cape Cod and the Islands might experience consistent 40 mph gusts. The rest of the week will see dry conditions, but with quick changes in weather as high and low-pressure systems move through. Wednesday will bring another low-pressure system, followed by dry weather and gusty winds on Thursday. High pressure will build Thursday night, leading to calmer conditions. Another low-pressure system is expected Friday night into Saturday. Temperatures will vary. Wednesday and Friday will see highs in the high 50s to low 60s before cold fronts arrive. Behind the cold fronts, temperatures will drop to the high 40s and low 50s on Thursday and Sunday.
