Meet Michelle Simpson: Angel Yin's Secret Weapon on the Green

Eighteen years into her caddying career, Michelle Simpson has become a well-known figure on the golf course. She started her journey in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she picked up golf at the age of 15. Before becoming a caddie, Simpson was a professional golfer herself, playing on the Epson Tour from 2002 to 2007. After hanging up her clubs, she couldn't stay away from the course and began carrying the bags of other golfers. Simpson has worked with some of the best in the game, including two-time major winner Brittany Lincicome. She even caddied for Lincicome in her final event, the Annika 2024. With Lincicome's retirement, Simpson found a new partner in Angel Yin. The duo has been making waves at the CME Group Tour Championship 2024.What makes Simpson stand out is her unique perspective as a former golfer. She understands the challenges players face and can offer valuable advice. Her approach to caddying is also quite interesting. Instead of having a favorite golf course, she prefers to pick out individual holes from different courses to create her own imaginary 18-hole course. The partnership between Yin and Simpson came about when Yin admitted to struggling with the greens at the Tiburon Golf Club. Simpson, who loves the greens there, saw an opportunity and messaged Yin. The rest is history. The pair has been dominating the course, with Yin finishing in the top 10 six times this season.
