Two ships from Mexico arrived in Havana Harbor on a Thursday morning. They were loaded with supplies to help people in Cuba. This happened after the U. S. said it would punish countries that send oil to Cuba. One of the ships, the Papaloapan, had big packages on its deck. It sailed past the old El Morro castle before entering the calm waters of the harbor. Cuba is facing tough times. The government there has started strict rules on food and fuel. This is because the U. S. is trying to cut off Cuba's fuel supply.
In January, the U. S. said it would tax countries that send oil to Cuba. It claimed Cuba is a threat to the U. S. Cuba says this is not true. Mexico stopped sending oil to Cuba last month. But it still wants to help. A man named Ediberto Rodriguez saw the ships arrive. He thanked Mexico for not abandoning Cuba, even with pressure from the U. S. Mexico's leader, Claudia Sheinbaum, said more help is coming soon.
