Miami Heat: A New Crime Story Gets a TV Spotlight
Miami, Florida, USAWed Apr 15 2026
The pilot of the crime drama M. I. A. will appear on NBC at 10 p. m. ET/PT on Thursday, May 14, following its release a week earlier on Peacock. The show moved from the streaming platform to broadcast as part of a cross‑promotion strategy.
M. I. A. was greenlit by Peacock in 2024 and is created by Bill Dubuque, who also co‑created the hit series Ozark. The story follows Etta Tiger Jonze, played by Shannon Gisela, who leaves the Florida Keys for Miami after her family’s drug operation collapses. She is driven to seek revenge against those who destroyed her life, and she must navigate the city’s dangerous nightlife while staying one step ahead of her enemies.
The cast includes Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco and Marta Milans. Etta’s journey is supported by friends from Miami’s Latino and Haitian communities, adding cultural depth to the narrative.
Executive producer Bill Dubuque also writes for the series, while Karen Campbell serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Alethea Jones directed the first two episodes, with Gwyneth Horder‑Payton, Marizee Almas, Ben Semanoff and John Dahl each handling subsequent episodes. The production is backed by MRC studio.
The show’s premiere on NBC offers viewers a chance to see how the Miami setting shapes a tense, revenge‑driven plot that blends action with personal stakes.
