Microsoft Teams has officially become a unified app, combining work and personal use into one seamless experience. Previously, Teams was divided into two separate Windows 11 apps, causing confusion for users. Now, Teams is a single app that allows users to switch between different accounts and access types, available for Windows 11, Windows 10, Macs, iOS, and Android devices.
This new app is a result of feedback from both personal and professional users who wanted a single app for easy account switching. The new Teams app offers notifications that indicate which account they reference, with more details for personal account notifications, allowing users to respond directly from the notification banner.
In future releases, the unified preview app will be known as Microsoft Teams (work or school), and the standalone consumer version called Microsoft Teams (free) will be removed from be removed from Windows.
