Disney's Moana 2 is making waves even before Thanksgiving. The sequel, featuring Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho, is expected to rake in over $12 million on Tuesday, smashing Disney's previous record set by Ralph Breaks the Internet. With a weekend forecast of $125-$135 million, this film is set to be a blockbuster. Reviews are mixed, with a 69% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, slightly below Frozen II's 77%.
Universal's Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, is also performing well. Despite its longer runtime, it’s projected to make around $16-$17 million on Tuesday, surpassing Disney’s Frozen 2 for the second-best Tuesday in November. By the end of the weekend, Wicked is likely to become the highest-grossing Universal feature adaptation of a Broadway musical.
Paramount's Gladiator II is also doing great, with a near $7 million take on Tuesday, bringing its domestic total to $67. 6 million. This film appeals to both older men and women, making it a perfect date night movie.
The biggest Thanksgiving five-day frame still belongs to 2018, with Ralph Breaks the Internet leading the pack.
