MSNBC is making a big move. It's changing its name to MS NOW. This change is happening because MSNBC is no longer part of NBCUniversal. Instead, it's joining Versant. The new name stands for My Source for News, Opinion and the World.
The network's president, Rebecca Kutler, shared the news. She said the change will happen on Saturday, Nov. 15. She also mentioned that the network has been planning this for months. The goal is to make MS NOW a fresh, innovative news source.
MS NOW will still be on cable and streaming platforms. Viewers can find it at the same channel numbers. The show times won't change either. The network wants to make sure its loyal audience knows that MS NOW will still have the same mission as MSNBC.
The new name reflects a bigger change. MS NOW is becoming independent. It's no longer tied to NBC News. This move is about embracing a new future under Versant. The network's CEO, Mark Lazarus, said the change highlights MS NOW's focus on breaking news and opinion journalism.
MS NOW is also expanding. It has hired more than three dozen journalists from other outlets. These include CNN, Bloomberg, Politico, and The Washington Post. The network has also set up its own Washington Bureau. Plus, it has a deal with Sky News for international reporting.
The change isn't just about the name. MS NOW is also getting a new logo. It won't have the rainbow "peacock" logo associated with NBC News. Instead, it will have a waving banner with two red strips. The logo is bold and matches the brand's new name.
