Last year, Sylvia Kaare, the orchestra director at Sartell-St. Stephen High School, was named "Educator of the Year" by Schmitt Music. This honor came with a $1, 000 prize. Recently, the Sartell-St. Stephen School District shared an update on their Facebook page. Before this award, Riverview Intermediate School didn't have any violins for students to use. This meant that if a family needed financial assistance to join the orchestra, there were limited options.
With the prize money, Kaare was able to buy three beginner violins for Riverview. Schmitt Music also provided various orchestra accessories, which were shared with the high school orchestra students. These accessories included new polishing cloths, shoulder rests, rock stops, rosin, tuners, and more. Many students received their first violin or viola mute, a crucial tool for the advanced music they are learning.
The school district expressed their gratitude to Schmitt Music for the gifts and recognition. They also thanked Ms. Kaare with a heartfelt "Bravissima. " Isn't it fantastic that Kaare's investment is helping students participate in the orchestra who might not have been able to otherwise?
