Nara Organics Formula Recall: Three Babies Suffer Botulism
NetherlandsMon Jun 15 2026
A small European company, Nara Organics, has pulled its Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula from shelves across the country. The move comes after three infants in California, Pennsylvania and Washington fell ill with a rare but dangerous disease called infant botulism. The babies were between two and five months old when they got sick, showing symptoms such as constipation, weak sucking and drooping eyelids. Doctors treated them with a special antitoxin called BabyBIG, and thankfully none died.
The Centers for Disease Control reported that the children ate the formula sometime between April and May. Because of this, the Food and Drug Administration ordered a nationwide recall that covers all Nara Organics products sold from July 2025 to June 2026, including those found at Target stores and online. Parents must stop using any of the recalled items immediately.
If you still have leftover formula, keep it out of reach from other foods and label it “Do Not Use. ” State health officials may ask for a sample to test. If your baby shows no symptoms and the authorities don’t need the product, you can safely throw it away or return it.
Infant botulism happens when spores of the bacteria Clostridium botulinum grow in a baby’s gut and produce toxins that damage nerves. The illness can progress to breathing problems if not treated quickly. Because the disease is rare, a few cases do not threaten the overall supply of infant formula in the United States. Nara Organics represents less than one percent of all formulas sold here, so most parents can continue using other brands.
The recall highlights how even small manufacturers must keep strict safety standards. Parents are encouraged to stay alert for any unusual signs in their babies and to report concerns right away.
