Neighbors for a Better County
South Bend, IN, USAFri Apr 03 2026
Lori Camp has stepped forward to run for the St. Joseph County Council in District E, aiming to bring a fresh voice that is practical and open.
Her background is rooted in the community she calls home. A graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, she earned a degree in criminal justice from Indiana University South Bend and has spent nearly three decades working at Donnell Systems, a local software company. In that role she manages operations and training while ensuring vendors meet strict standards.
Camp’s life in South Bend extends beyond the office. She has served on a school task force, helped run her daughter’s gymnastics team, and coached diving at several high schools for six years. These experiences taught her how to unite people toward common goals, a skill she says will guide her work on the council.
Her message is clear: county government should be realistic, honest and truly answerable to residents. Decisions made by the council affect every neighborhood, not just those in her district. She pledges to use taxpayer money wisely and protect essential services that families rely on.
An endorsement from the International Union of Operating Engineers underscores her commitment to hard work and community advocacy. Camp says she will hold herself to the same standards that the union members uphold in their daily jobs.
She believes District E deserves a dedicated voice, and she promises to listen closely, speak plainly and keep the council accessible. Her goal is to ensure that St. Joseph County remains a place where families, businesses and communities can thrive.
On May 5 she asks voters to trust her with their support. Together, she believes they can shape a county that works for everyone.
