New Beats and New Beginnings
Los Angeles, USAWed May 27 2026
Ziggy Marley has been busy. He survived a pandemic, turned his dad’s life into film, and released an album of duets with big names. Now he wants a fresh start.
He built a new studio in Los Angeles called Rebel Lion Studio. It lets him try out recording at 432 Hz, a frequency he feels is more natural for people. This is the first time he’s used it on an entire album.
The result is a short record with eight tracks. It mixes personal stories and reggae roots, plus world‑music touches. The songs feel hopeful and grounded in Rastafari ideas.
Famous musicians joined him on the project. Sheila E. and Trombone Shorty play on “Why Let the World. ” Pop‑soul singer Nikki Costa and ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro appear on other songs. The album also features a new version of “Racism Is a Killa” with Big Boi.
Ziggy first released the album on vinyl for Record Store Day. He loves physical copies and wants to support local shops. After the vinyl launch, he put it on streaming services.
He will tour for nine shows in 2026. The Brightside Tour starts in Tucson on June 19 and ends in Nantucket on July 22. Hawaiian reggae star J Boog will join him for some dates.
Ziggy says the new album is about himself. He wrote songs while filming a biopic and felt the need to express his emotions. The track “Many Mourn for Bob” is especially personal.
He plans more music in 2026 and may explore visual albums. He keeps his creative process fresh by planning songs before recording.
