New Cancer Care Hub Opens in Mendota

OSF HealthCare has reopened its cancer clinic at the OSF Saint Paul Medical Center in Mendota. The service began on March 30 as part of the Community Health Services Department. The move brings specialized oncology treatment back to a local facility, giving patients easier access to care. OSF HealthCare said the change supports both individuals and the wider community. A key addition is Dr. Meraj Aziz, a hematology and medical oncology expert. He will start seeing patients on Mondays at the Saint Paul center. Dr. Aziz plans to evaluate, treat and follow up with those battling cancer or blood disorders.He stresses that his approach blends science and empathy. “I aim to give evidence‑based care while keeping communication open, ” he said. The goal is to address both the disease and emotional needs of patients and their families.
