The Voice is shaking things up for its 28th season! Two big names, Joe Walsh and Zac Brown, are stepping in as mega mentors. Zac Brown is new to the show, joining coaches Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg. Joe Walsh will be working with Niall Horan and Reba McEntire when the contestants move to the Knockouts round on October 27.
The Knockouts round is where things get serious. Each coach starts with eight artists, and there are no saves or steals. The coaches pick just one winner from their team to move on to the Playoffs. It's a tough round, but it's what makes the competition exciting.
There's a new feature this season called the “Mic Drop” button. Each coach gets one to use on a standout performance. Viewers at home will vote for their favorite “Mic Drop” moment, and the winner gets to perform at the Rose Parade on January 1, 2026. It's a cool way to give the audience a say in the action.
Zac Brown is no stranger to success. He's the lead singer of the Zac Brown Band, a Grammy-winning group known for their Southern rock sound. They made history in 2022 by being inducted into the Fenway Music Hall of Fame. And get this—they're the first country group to have a residency at Sphere in Las Vegas, starting in December 2025.
Joe Walsh has had an amazing career spanning over 50 years. He's released 12 studio albums and received tons of awards. In 2016, he was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors as part of the Eagles. He also started VetsAid in 2017, a nonprofit that helps veterans and their families.
With these new mentors and the “Mic Drop” button, Season 28 of The Voice is shaping up to be one to watch. It's all about the music, the competition, and giving the artists a chance to shine.
