New Fun Spot Planned for Huntley Golf Fans
Huntley, USATue Jun 16 2026
Huntley is getting a fresh take on golf that feels more like a game night than a traditional course. Plans are moving forward for a high-tech driving range with eight big bays and three seasonal ones, right next to the existing Pinecrest Golf Club. Instead of just hitting balls at a field, players will sit in comfy seats, order snacks and drinks straight to their spot, and even use video game-style simulators for parties or special events.
The Huntley Park District has been saving up for this project since voters approved an $18 million bond in 2024. About $1. 5 million of that is earmarked for this new entertainment center, though leaders haven’t confirmed if that budget still covers everything. Unlike some flashy indoor ranges with heated floors, this one won’t have fancy turf returning balls underground, so winter weather could force short closures when snow piles up or icy winds blow. Still, the plan stays open all year as much as possible.
Local leaders see this as more than just a golf upgrade. The facility could double as a check-in spot for regular golfers, plus a tiny shop selling gloves, balls, and other basics. Hourly fees will cover bay rentals, with simulator sessions costing extra—handy for birthdays or group outings. The Village Board already greenlit the site layout, with one trustee admitting she’s excited for winter golf without the usual cold hassle.
Construction timing and final costs are still up in the air. The park district will seek a building permit soon but won’t need another vote from the Village Board. While details like exact pricing aren’t set, the goal is clear: build something the whole town can enjoy year-round.
