Billboard has just announced some big changes at the top. Leila Cobo and Jason Lipshutz are now co-chief content officers. They will be in charge of all the editorial stuff for this famous music business magazine.
Cobo is a big deal in Latin music. She has been with Billboard for a long time and knows her stuff. Lipshutz is all about pop and rock music. He has been with the magazine for over a decade and has covered some major artists.
The two will be leading the newsroom and all the live events. This includes things like Women in Music and Latin Music Week. They will be reporting to Mike Van, the CEO of Billboard.
Jay Penske, the chairman and CEO of Penske Media Corp, is pretty happy about this. He said that Cobo and Lipshutz are incredibly talented and deserve this promotion. He also mentioned that they bring a lot of passion and creativity to their work.
Cobo will continue to lead Latin music coverage but will also add country music to her list. Lipshutz will focus on pop music and also take on rock, hip-hop, and dance. This is a big change from the previous editorial leadership under Hannah Karp.
Cobo is from Colombia and is a former Fulbright scholar. She has written two novels and biographies of some famous Latin artists. She has been with Billboard since 2001 and has done a lot to elevate Latin music in the U. S.
Lipshutz started as an intern in 2008 and has worked his way up. He has covered big names like Taylor Swift and U2. He also has a book coming out in 2024 about Linkin Park.
Both Cobo and Lipshutz are excited about their new roles. They are looking forward to continuing to grow Billboard's content and events. They want to shine a spotlight on the global music landscape and elevate diverse voices.
