A large team of local police and FBI agents has spread out across the desert near Tucson, Arizona, looking for any signs that could explain what happened to 84‑year‑old Nancy Guthrie after she disappeared last month.
Investigators are now testing a black latex glove found on a road close to her house, hoping to find fingerprints or DNA that could link the object to the kidnapper.
Video footage of a masked intruder tampering with her doorbell camera has been released, and authorities are using advanced computer techniques to try and read the face hidden behind a ski mask.
The police say that Nancy’s limited mobility made it unlikely she could have walked far, so they suspect a forced abduction.
Blood found on her porch matched Nancy’s DNA, confirming it was her blood that fell there.
Two ransom notes have been sent to the media, each with a deadline that has already passed, but no sign that Nancy is alive or in the hands of her kidnappers.
She has posted several video messages on social media, asking for help and even offering to meet any demands.
After a brief arrest during a traffic stop, the suspect was released. The sheriff’s office also searched a location in Rio Rico, but nothing conclusive emerged.
Since the kidnapping was reported, more than 18, 000 calls have been received from people who might know something.
