Newcomers to the Fortune 500: Where these 12 companies started from
USASat Jun 06 2026
Twelve companies just joined the Fortune 500, a list that ranks America’s biggest businesses by revenue. To qualify, each had to bring in at least $7. 5 billion in 2026. Their paths to the list show how tech, healthcare, and energy are reshaping what it means to be a corporate giant.
Some of these firms are riding waves of rapid change. Galaxy Digital, a crypto-focused company, went public in 2025 and landed near the top at spot 76. Blockchain services now support everything from hedge funds to global asset managers. Bitgo, another crypto player, became the first major blockchain company to go public in 2026, offering wallets and trading tools to clients in over 100 countries.
Others are classic industries that have quietly rebranded. Medline began in 1910 making clothing before shifting to medical supplies. Its 2025 IPO raised $6. 3 billion, making it the year’s largest market debut. Somnigroup, known until recently as Tempur-Sealy, now controls Mattress Firm and 2, 000 stores worldwide, proving that mattresses can still be big business.
A few newcomers owe their growth to government and energy trends. Amentum, once part of AECOM, handles defense and cybersecurity for federal missions. Venture Global exports liquified natural gas from Gulf Coast sites to Europe and Asia, meeting demand where pipelines can’t reach. Primoris Services is building clean energy infrastructure across the U. S. and Canada, turning wind and solar projects into Fortune 500 revenue.
Two tech companies stand out for their ties to artificial intelligence. Comfort Systems builds cooling units for data centers, and its stock has jumped over 80% this year as AI servers multiply. Arista Networks provides the networking backbone for those same data centers, and its shares have climbed more than 500% in five years. Marvell Technology designs chips for AI servers and cloud networks; after Nvidia’s CEO called it a possible “next trillion-dollar company, ” its stock surged 32% in a day. APi Group keeps construction sites safer with fire sprinklers and security systems, while Resideo Technologies supplies home climate controls. Both prove that even traditional building services can climb the rankings.
What ties these dozen companies together is timing. Some surfed crypto hype, others bet on data centers or clean energy. A few reinvented century-old businesses. None did it alone: each needed investors, customers, and a bit of luck. The Fortune 500 keeps evolving, and these fresh names show where the economy is heading next.
