North Texas Weather Check: Rain Across the Region, Storm Risk Later
Texas, Dallas, USAMon Apr 13 2026
Sunday started quietly in Dallas, but weather patterns kept changing as heavier rain soaked western counties while the city stayed dry in the early hours. By late morning, storms had moved inland from the west, soaking rural towns like Bowie and adding an inch or more to rainfall totals in areas like Eastland and Breckenridge. Closer to the city, things stayed lighter—Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport measured barely a trace, and Fort Worth picked up just a small amount.
Later in the day, attention shifts to whether the atmosphere will recover enough for stronger storms. The main chance for trouble starts after 2 p. m. , with the highest risk south and east of the Metroplex where air stays more humid. Strong winds up to 65 mph, small hail, and possibly even a tornado or two could pop up if storms fire up. Flooding might be an issue in spots that normally see water pooling, even though the worst rain already passed through areas built to handle it.
The week ahead doesn’t offer much rest. After a calmer Monday and Tuesday, another round of storms moves in midweek with about a 50% chance of rain by Wednesday. Temperatures won’t drop much, staying in the 80s during the warmest parts of each day. That means North Texas keeps looking at a pattern that stays active and unpredictable.
