Pixel users can now see sports scores and stock news right on their lock screen, thanks to a new update that brings two fresh data types into the At a Glance widget. The feature first appeared in early February and is still rolling out, so not every device will see both options at once. When enabled, the updates sit on top of your always‑on display and lock screen whenever you have no other notifications. A semi‑transparent background lets the rest of your home page remain visible, and you can dismiss them by long‑pressing. You can choose which sports teams to follow through a shortcut that opens the same selection screen used by Google Search and Discover. Likewise, a “Choose your stocks” button lets you pick items from your Google Finance watchlist.
The developers note that sports data may use extra battery power, so users can toggle the feature on or off in settings. The update is part of the Pixel Launcher’s built‑in experience, not the generic Google app widget available on all Android phones. Both options are turned on by default and appear at the top of the list in the latest Android 16 beta and the B. 21 build of Android System Intelligence on Pixel devices tested so far. Alongside this, Google is adding a high‑contrast design to the At a Glance widget and a new search shortcut that opens apps quickly. The Google app is gradually taking over the Pixel Launcher’s search function.
