Police Launch 90‑Day Crackdown Ahead of World Cup
North Texas, USA, Dallas,Fri May 01 2026
The North Texas police are rolling out a three‑month operation to keep the city safe for visitors. The plan started on March 14 and will finish on June 14, the day of the first match in Arlington. The goal is to arrest people who commit serious crimes and stop drug dealers from operating on the streets.
The name “Red Card” comes from soccer. A referee shows a red card when a player commits a serious foul, and the player is sent off. Police leaders want to use that same idea to remove dangerous criminals from the area.
The operation targets a range of offenders. It focuses on people who sell drugs, especially fentanyl, and those involved in human trafficking. The Dallas Police Department says it has enough money for overtime shifts to protect everyone.
So far, 171 people in the Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties have been charged with federal crimes. Police seized 70 kilos of meth, 31 kilos of cocaine, 15 kilos of fentanyl and 104 guns. The Department of Justice says each kilogram of fentanyl could end up killing many people.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is also warning visitors about fake pills that contain fentanyl. The agency will put billboards around North Texas to spread the message “One Pill Can Kill. ” This is part of a national campaign that started in 2019.
The World Cup will bring many fans to Dallas‑Fort Worth. Nine games will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and teams from Croatia and Sweden will stay nearby. Dallas will also host the International Broadcast Center and a fan festival at Fair Park.
Police leaders say that keeping the city safe is a priority. They want everyone to enjoy the games and the event without fear of violence or drug problems.
