Police Officer Faces Consequences After Wrongful Conduct
Manhattan, New York, USAFri Jun 12 2026
A former New York City police officer was taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to misconduct after acting inappropriately with people he was investigating.
The officer, who had served for eleven years, used his position to send unwanted messages and even met with a suspect he had just arrested.
He was found guilty of official misconduct, accepting an illegal gratuity and sending offensive texts to victims.
As part of a plea agreement he received two years probation, community service and counseling.
The officer’s misconduct began when he arrested a woman for petty theft in May.
While processing her, he promised to get her a court appearance so she would not stay overnight in jail.
After releasing her, he sent texts offering a “quick hello” and later shared sexually explicit photos.
He met her outside the precinct, and they had sex in his personal car after he left work early.
In addition to this affair, the officer texted two victims of crimes he was investigating.
He complimented them in a way that made them uncomfortable and even asked one out for drinks while the case was pending.
These messages were considered unprofessional and abusive of his authority.
Following the discovery of these texts, the department stripped him of his firearm and reassigned him to a surveillance post.
He resigned from the force in December 2025, citing the allegations as the reason for leaving.
During his career he had made over a hundred arrests and faced multiple complaints, only a few of which were substantiated.
The case highlights the importance of accountability and maintaining professional boundaries in law enforcement.
