Janelle Brown and Christine Brown, once part of the same polygamous family, now have different takes on the practice. Janelle, who left polygamy in 2022 after nearly 30 years, disagrees with Christine's new husband, David Woolley. David has spoken out against polygamy, saying it's used to control women and cause harm. Janelle doesn't deny that bad things can happen in polygamous relationships, but she points out that problems can occur in any type of relationship.
Christine, on the other hand, agrees with David's views. She has seen sadness in many polygamous families and questions what makes women okay with sharing their husbands. Christine grew up in a polygamous family, so she didn't question it at first. But now, she sees the issues with it.
David, who was exposed to polygamy as a child, also shares his thoughts. He believes women in polygamous relationships are indoctrinated to think a certain way. He questions why something supposed to be righteous can be so miserable.
The Browns' family dynamic has changed a lot over the years. Kody Brown had three wives when the TLC show "Sister Wives" started in 2010. He later married a fourth wife, Robyn. But the family fell apart when Christine left in 2021, followed by Janelle in 2022. Meri also left Kody in 2023. Christine then married David in 2023.
The upcoming episode of "Sister Wives: 1-on-1" will delve deeper into these perspectives. It's set to air on Sunday, January 25, at 10 p. m. ET on TLC.
