Pope Visits Monaco to Ask Rich People to Share

The Pope flew by helicopter from the Vatican to Monaco, a tiny country on the French coast that is famous for its rich residents and fancy boats. He met with Prince Albert, who is the head of state there. The Pope said that people who have a lot should help those who do not. He told the Prince and other leaders, “In God’s view nothing is given in vain. ” He gave the Prince a painting made by Vatican artists. It is also one of the few places where Catholicism is the official religion. The Pope’s speech took place in a 12‑th century castle that looks out over the blue Mediterranean Sea. He plans to travel to several African countries in April and will visit Spain next summer.
