PPE Training Works: A Simple Study in a Cosmetics Factory
Yasuj, IranSat Jun 06 2026
A small cosmetics factory in Yasuj wanted to see if teaching workers about safety could change their habits. Researchers split 109 employees into two groups: one received special training, the other did not. The training was six 60‑minute lessons taught by a researcher and an occupational health expert, covering why protection matters and how to use it correctly. Before the lessons, both groups answered a questionnaire that measured their knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about safety gear. Two months later the same questions were asked again.
The first round of answers showed no real differences between the two groups. After the training, however, those who attended the lessons scored much higher on every safety topic: they knew more about the risks, felt more confident using protective equipment, and saw fewer obstacles to wearing it. Their actual use of PPE also improved significantly compared with the control group.
These results suggest that a structured education program based on health‑belief ideas can boost safety practices in the workplace. By explaining how danger works, showing benefits, and addressing doubts, workers become more likely to wear the gear that keeps them safe. The study points to simple, cost‑effective ways for factories and other jobs to protect their people.
