Prince Harry is on Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in sports. He joins famous names like LeBron James and Lionel Messi for his work with the Invictus Games. The Invictus Games is a competition that lets wounded or ill service members compete in sports. Harry says sport kept him together. When he was a child, school felt boring. Playing on the field helped him stay in school. After his second tour in Afghanistan, Harry lit a fire at the 2013 Warrior Games. That event showed him how sports can change lives for injured veterans.He decided to create a global event where many countries could join. The first Invictus Games happened in London. Since then, the games have moved to places like Orlando and Toronto. In 2027 Birmingham will host about 550 athletes from 25 countries. New sports such as esports, laser run and pickleball will be added. Harry says the games give people purpose and identity. He wants to make the event longer, from one week to two weeks. He hopes all communities can feel the same positive energy.
