Rain, Wind and a Cooler Day Ahead in Detroit
Metro Detroit, MI, USATue Jun 16 2026
A new wave of showers is coming to Southeast Michigan. The sky will turn gray by noon and stay cloudy until 10 p. m. Some thunderstorms could grow strong, but most of the area will only see isolated storms that might bring gusty winds or big hail. The temperature is still mild, with highs in the mid‑to‑upper 70s and a breeze that keeps things comfortable.
If you have sports plans, expect the game to be rained out. The wet pattern starts around lunchtime and keeps rolling through the evening, especially south of I‑94 after 6 p. m. That area faces a risk of flash flooding because up to two inches of rain can fall in a short time. Roads may look fine at first, but water can pile up quickly, so it’s safest to avoid driving through flooded spots.
After the rain clears, a cool spell will settle over Metro Detroit. Temperatures will stay just below average for the rest of the week and into the weekend, with afternoon highs in the 70s. Nights will be crisp, dropping into the 50s, so it’s a good chance to open windows and let fresh air in instead of cranking the AC.
The overall weather picture means fewer hot, humid days this summer. You’ll get pleasant temperatures and a break from the typical heat, though showers will still appear here and there.
