Matthew Stafford, the Rams' quarterback, believes that the team's repeated decision to settle for field goals instead of pushing for touchdowns was a significant factor in their 23-15 loss to the Dolphins on Monday night. "We shot ourselves in the foot a bit when we got close to the end zone, " Stafford said, referring to the crucial 30-yard line area. Despite starting slow, the Rams' offense managed to get into field goal range on their last six possessions but failed to score a single touchdown. Kicker Joshua Karty went 5-for-6 on field goal attempts, but it wasn’t enough to seal the victory. "We had some solid drives, but we didn't finish them, " Stafford noted.
Stafford faced heavy pressure from the Dolphins' defense, being sacked four times and losing 36 yards in the process. Head coach Sean McVay acknowledged the need for better performance from the offensive line. "We didn't execute well enough offensively, " McVay admitted. With a record of 4-5, the Rams can ill afford many more games where they struggle to reach the end zone.
