Religion and Health in Young Slovenes
SloveniaSat Apr 18 2026
In a recent study, researchers talked to 21 young people in Slovenia.
They asked about how religion and spirituality fit into their lives and health habits.
The interviews happened in late 2025 and were recorded, written down, and examined carefully.
Five main ideas appeared in the answers.
First, many see religion as a personal choice that shapes their identity and values.
Second, family and the wider community influence how they think about faith.
Third, religion often provides moral guidance that helps them decide what is right or wrong.
Fourth, most think religion has a small effect on physical health actions like diet and exercise.
Fifth, they believe faith is a big help when dealing with stress and keeping their minds healthy.
Overall, participants felt that religion works more as a mental support tool than a direct driver of health behaviors.
It offers comfort, coping skills, and a sense of belonging that keeps stress low.
