A robbery that shook a small New Jersey town took place last month at a local computer repair shop. Two masked men entered the store around 6:45 p. m. on January 2, bringing a gun and pepper spray into the scene. One of them threatened an employee with the spray before hurling it in the worker’s face.
The intruders stole cash and other items from both the business and its staff. The escape was swift, but police were quick to act. Surveillance footage helped identify one of the suspects as Fernando Ramos‑Garcia, a 30‑year‑old resident of South River. He was taken into custody on Thursday at his home on Burton Avenue and faces charges that include robbery, aggravated assault and weapons violations.
Investigators worked with officers from neighboring Sayreville, who are dealing with a similar incident, to piece together the events. The second suspect remains at large, and anyone who knows their whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Sgt. Kenneth Nale by phone.
Ramos‑Garcia is currently held in the Middlesex County jail and will appear before a judge on March 12. No attorney has yet been named for him, but his legal team is expected to step in soon.
The case highlights how quickly a routine business can become the target of violent crime. It also shows that cooperation between local police departments can be key in catching criminals, even when the evidence is only what cameras record.
