Roblox Faces User Drop as Age Checks Roll Out
North AmericaFri May 01 2026
Roblox’s daily user numbers fell in the last quarter, partly because it started checking ages on its site. The company reported 132 million daily active users worldwide, down from 144 million at the end of last year and from 152 million in Q3. In North America, users fell by one million compared with the previous quarter.
The decline happened while Roblox’s earnings grew to 1. 4 billion dollars. Management said the new age‑verification system made it harder for fresh players to join, creating “headwinds” that slowed growth. A separate factor was a ban in Russia that also reduced the user base.
The platform has broadened its age rules to control what games kids can play. In the coming months, it plans more tweaks so that content matches user age groups better. The company expects this safety push to keep its revenue growth modest in 2026.
By the end of Q1, about half of all global users had verified their age. In the United States the percentage was higher, at 65 percent. Roblox is also adding more games aimed at people over 18.
To reward older players, the company raised its Developer Exchange rate by 42 percent for in‑game spending from age‑checked users over 18. This move is meant to keep adults engaged while keeping the platform safer for younger visitors.
