Rogers Forum: A New Name for Abbotsford's Sports Hub

A big change is happening in Abbotsford. The Abbotsford Centre is now called Rogers Forum. This happened because the city, Canucks Sports and Entertainment (CSE), and Rogers Communications made a deal. The city owns the building, but CSE has been managing it since 2022. They pay the city $750, 000 every year to do this. The city also gets extra money if the venue sells a lot of tickets, but that hasn't happened yet. Rogers is a big company. They have other places with their name, like Rogers Arena in Vancouver and Rogers Place in Edmonton. The city had to say yes to the name change. The mayor of Abbotsford is happy about this deal. He thinks it will help the city and make the venue better. CSE and Rogers are also working together more. Rogers is now the official phone company for the Abbotsford Canucks. They want to make the venue a fun place for sports and concerts. The first event at Rogers Forum is a concert on Nov. 26. The Abbotsford Canucks will play their first home game there on Dec. 2. But there are still some questions. No one knows how long the deal with Rogers is for, or if the city gets any money from it. New signs with the Rogers name aren't up yet either. This deal is part of a bigger partnership. Rogers and the Vancouver Canucks have been working together for a long time. They do things like support kids' hockey and broadcast games.
